The origin of the name Asrir:

The Ksar Asrir is without any doubt the oldest of Ferkla; it is mentioned in some documents from the 12^th century and it was the economical capital of the oasis until the middle of the 20^th century. It is composed of seven quarters that are separated by walls. In one of them lived the Jews. The village is also famous for its pottery. The inhabitants belong to different Berber groups with sedentary tradition.
